Community Update #36 A Very Moddy Christmasstore.steampowered.comHello friends, The days are getting colder, the holiday decorations are creeping out early, and honestly? We’re leaning into it. It’s been a long year, one that saw Baldur’s Gate 3 receive twelve new subclasses, full cross-play support, and the arrival of photo mode - the last final, final last patch. It’s been an exciting year for us, what with also launching Larian: Channel From Hell, with weekly streams where you’ve had sneak peeks into our madness, met valued members of the team, and pushed Aoife to her limits with her Dark Urge run. However, they’re not the only stars of the show - your mods have caused tears, laughter, and pain. Lots of pain. Like getting rammed in the ankles by a muscle car pain.So before we close out on 2025, we’re looking back at some of the best moments brought about by your mods! The Devs Of Christmas - A Four-Hour Honour Mode Stream But before we start our reminiscing, we’re kicking off the festive season with a livestream party - and you’re invited! Don your ugliest Christmas sweater, warm up some cocoa, and curl up in front of the computer for a four-hour-long stream where Senior Communications Developer, Aoife Wilson, has bribed devs across Larian Studios with cheese and a joyous time, as they attempt an honour mode run! Live on the 3rd of December at 2pm GMT, every death will mean a new challenger will try their might. Nothing says Christmas cheer like Myrkul obliterating your existence, as my gran always said. This will now be our last stream for the year, as the Community Team heads on over to The Game Awards, where we’ve been nominated for Best Community Support! Which, bugger us sideways, to be nominated for a third year in a row is a complete honour.Should you want to share the love, sign in and vote for Baldur’s Gate 3 to win the Best Community Support award by following this link: https://www.thegameawards.com/nominees/best-community-support Modding MomentsBunnies Gate 3Mod Author 0iml bore witness to the Patch 7 animated trailer and insisted giant bunnies should be a permanent fixture of the Sword Coast. Find the 126 bunnies (plus 3 top-secret special bunnies) or do as we do: install it, forget you installed it, and be pleasantly surprised by the expertly placed balls of fluff. Pool FloatiesAesthetically pleasing and life-saving. If you were drowning in a puddle, perhaps.Pool Floaties by baeator offers you a choice of four inflatable pool floatie hats that can be used in the helmet slot, each with varying stats to help you navigate the watery waves. To really give your playthrough an edge, the Goostarion Floatie Hat comes equipped with its own Astarion starting armour. Dye Astarion’s armour, and your Goostarion will match!Egg Magic: Clownify Made by Bugby128, consume a clown egg and learn the ability to use new cantrips that paint you with clown makeup. Nothing else to be said, really, beyond the fact that Bugby has undoubtedly dealt psychic harm by forcing the image of a clown laying an egg into our minds.Withers Big NaturalsParticularly effective at generating hysteria when forgetting you have those puppies installed and arriving at the Dank Crypt. Thank you, MaybeeAdam, we wouldn’t have him any other way. Car WildshapeThanks to mod author wa_rouk, you can now recruit Carlach, Gale Decarios, Ascarion, Shadowkart, Vehicwyll, Lane’zel… Or the whole fleet, if you will. We have a soft spot for Carlach; she unfortunately has a penchant for vehicular manslaughter. Handsome AstarionA refined classic. Mod author FR05T has given Astarion a makeover, and it never fails to catch us off guard. Did you know he will also be handsome in his character portrait? Neither did we. All-rounder Owlbear BeanieSee, we added this mod for the adorable beanies, not realising mod author chunyou had enchanted them with quite a few luck buffs. But who needs game balance when you can look this adorable? Want an owlbear beanie of your own? These are inspired by the very real Owlbear beanies you can find in the Larian merch store! Such a Tease - a Raphael redressing mod & Raphameow (Raphael with cat ears)Listen, we have no excuse for enabling these. He did say “down comes the claw”, he just didn’t specify it was one of his. Thanks to mod author kariimatcha for bringing Raphameow into the world, and props to mod author Nikjima for making it so that Raphael also has his collar unbuttoned in his true cambion form. Enjoyed by all.DinoScratchMod author chunyou has lovingly stitched together these adorable dinosaur pyjamas for Scratch, perfect for those cold camp nights. There’s nothing better than watching him run around in the background, wagging his dino tail, while Volo performs unlicensed surgery on us. Plasma Weapons - Darkh SetThis completely and utterly legally distinct mod made by mod author Skirbie, offers giant, dangerous, glowing swords to swing around, plus an array of other designs and themed clothing. Skirbie's Vintage Firearms PackAlso thanks to Skirbie, we gave Gale a gun. Went as well as you’d imagine.BaldGate3It is called BALDur’s Gate 3 after all. This mod by wa_rouk will make all companions (and other surprise important NPCs) bald. We think everyone pulls it off magnificently. Evelyn’s Monarch - Grenade LauncherNothing spices up a playthrough with your friends like a freak grenade launcher accident. Evelyn’s Monarch is available on consoles and PC, made by Skirbie, probably without the intention of turning everyone within a 5m range into a cloud of gore. If you’re looking to bring the laughter (and pain) to your latest Baldur’s Gate 3 run, we’ve listed all of the mods being used on stream over on mod.io! Download the collection here.Modding In NumbersAnd boy, are you modders busy bees. You’re closing out the year with 10,000 mods uploaded to mod.io, and over 350 million mod downloads! Give yourselves a pat on the back and a shot of whiskey. To show our gratitude for all of your creativity, Swen has a few words to share:0 Commentaires ·0 Partages ·148 Vues -
Hotfix #34 Now Live!store.steampowered.comFriends, family, funny people,We are back with another hotfix offering up several bug fixes and addressing some rather annoying instances of crashing on Xbox.Whats more, Hotfix #34 brings a special update to those of you playing on Steam Deck: Baldurs Gate 3 now features a native Steam Deck build! This means the game can now be run natively on the platform, resulting in a more stable framerate, lower loading times, and smoother gameplay. This is not just good news for Steam Deck users either, the work the team has put into this build also means that everyone will get to enjoy overall improvements to the way game models are streamed on all platforms, which should reduce framerate spikes in busy areas, such as the Lower City in Act 3.Find your best Steam Deck settingsWhen launching the game on Steam Deck after Hotfix #34, you will be on the native Steam Deck graphics settings by default. You can always give these settings a tweak, whether you decide to go native or play with Proton. Our wonderful Support Team have put together a comprehensive guide on the Steam Deck Native transition with all the information you may need: https://larian.com/support/faqs/steam-deck-native-version_121Want the TL;DR version? A good one to choose if you feel called to kick your enemies off a ledge, or, you know, throw a bewildered companion at them.College of Glamour BardAlso available from Level 3, College of Glamour Bards are taught their art by the fey, making them the perfect choice for those who see themselves as superstars, captivating and entrancing audiences. Step in to defend your allies with your undying Charm, and use that voice of yours to Command and control enemies.Death Domain ClericTime to die indeed. These Clerics draw their faith from the forces of death - both those that cause it and those that raise and puppet the undead. Looking to add a bit of darkness to your playthrough? Go for the Death Domain Cleric and you can blow up nearby corpses and impale everyone around them, straight from Level 1. Circle of Stars DruidIf the twinkling lights draw you in at night, then the Circle of Stars Druid could be the subclass for you. Their powers come from the constellations, where they choose to embody the stars rather than fur and flesh. From Level 2, youll be able to assume a Starry Form, granting new abilities and bonuses to combat and healing. Arcane Archer FighterAvailable to choose from Level 3, Arcane Archer Fighters show you how archery is done when a little magic is involved. This style of combat, created by the elves, sees you shooting arrows of arcane energy where having good aim isnt a necessity. Someone annoying you? Stick em with your Banishing Arrow and send them to the Feywild.Way of the Drunken Master MonkResponsibly obtained at Level 3, these Monks hide skillful hits beneath a stumbling exterior. Regain Ki by consuming alcohol, a skill were sure many of us wish we had, before punching your enemies drunk and hitting them with Sobering Realisation, dealing Psychic damage and sobering them back up. Oath of the Crown PaladinComplete with a fancy new starting armour at Level 1, the Oath of the Crown binds a Paladin to uphold civilisation and order, deal with the consequences of their actions, and keep their word. Definitely not a subclass for someone who cant stay committed. Youll need to be careful about the promises you make and keep your focus on supporting and protecting allies.Swarmkeeper RangerIf you prefer the safety of groups, then Swarmkeeper Ranger is the one for you. At Level 3, these Rangers are called to ally themselves with the less fluffy creatures in nature, gaining the creatures' power in return. You can summon a flurry of moths that deal Psychic damage, a cloud of jellyfish that deal Lightning damage, or RELEASE THE BEES. Swashbuckler RogueIdeal for those who cant stop themselves responding with aye and arr in any conversation, the Swashbuckler Rogue subclass adds combat with a piratical flair. Play dirty from Level 3 by whipping sand out of your pocket to blind your enemies, or jump in and out of combat before your enemies can even react.Shadow Magic SorcererDark and gloomy more your vibe? Try the Shadow Magic Sorcerer, who draws their magic from the Shadowfell at Level 1. Besides giving you immaculate goth vibes, you will be able to teleport between shadows and summon a Hound of Ill Omen to surprise and trap your enemies. Youll be able to grow your very own cult with these bad boys, who, once attacked, will splinter into multiple versions of themselves. Hexblade WarlockHaving struck a contract with a sentient weapon also originating from the Shadowfell, you will start the game with a bound weapon - a Hexed Sickle, Hexed Maul, or Hexed Flail - that curses your targets. Once your cursed enemies are killed, you can have them rise as Accursed Spectres, slicing your enemies in a flurry of scythes and allowing you to syphon their health. Great for roleplaying the grim reaper, if youre into that.Bladesinging WizardA fan of pointy objects and magic casting? Bladesinging Wizards follow a technique that claims its name from the ringing of a blade as its unsheathed, gracefully leaping and slashing between enemies. At Level 2, youll be able to choose this subclass and attack with your Bladesong, building up to a Bladesong Climax, unleashing damage upon your enemies and healing your allies. Nice.If youre still stuck on what to roll next, dont forget to check out our video breakdown! The Final Patch: New Subclasses, Photo Mode, and Cross-Playstore.steampowered.comPatch 8 is now live! For the full patch notes, please click here.Well folks,This is it. Our final major game patch for Baldur’s Gate 3.You’ve helped us make BG3 a bigger success than any of us could’ve ever hoped for, and that passion could keep us tweaking things and making changes until the end of time. But then we’d never be able to create something new. Outside of minor bug fixing, Patch 8 will be the last game patch to introduce new content. That means we won’t be adding any new narrative content or significant changes to storylines, Origin characters, or companions. We’ve told our stories the way we needed to tell them, and tried our best to make them impactful and engaging, and we’re continuing to get better at handling our own chaos so that we can continue to create more chaos in the future. From the start, your feedback has been incredibly important to us, and will continue to shape our future projects. As Swen said during the Baldur’s Gate 3 retrospective panel at PAX West in August of last year, it’s time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armour on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project. If you’re already feeling nostalgic, you can click here to watch our last Baldur’s Gate 3 panel, where we looked back on Baldur’s Gate 3, from early access through to release, and answered some of your questions. From patching in a way to change your appearance with the Magic Mirror, introducing Honour Mode for those of you looking for a hard time, and giving you new ways to make out with your romanced companion, to new cinematics for your most evil runs, and handing you the tools to create your own supported mods, Patch 8 now rounds off with cross-play, Photo Mode, and 12 new subclasses for you to enjoy. To help us close the door on our last major patch, the party are back with their final animated short in collaboration with Spud Gun Studios - with a special appearance by the man in metal himself: Swen in his animated debut!Patch 8 Now let’s talk about what's new with our final patch!Steam Trading CardsBaldur’s Gate 3 now supports Steam Trading Cards! When joining a host’s game, you’ll be prompted with the Mod Verification window to enable, upgrade, downgrade, or install any missing mods. If you are a PC player creating a cross-play lobby, keep in mind you can use the “Available on Console & Mac” tag to browse mods that will be compatible with consoles and Mac, and that the mod limit on consoles is 100. Third-party mods cannot be used on consoles. Using Cross-PlayHow to join another player in multiplayer via cross-play: On the main menu, select “Multiplayer”. Select the “Cross-Play” tab. Join the other player’s lobby. If you or the host are using mods and there are any discrepancies, the Mod Verification window will open to inform you of which mods need installing, uninstalling, or updating. How to create a cross-play multiplayer lobby: Access multiplayer. Hopefully that’ll keep you occupied until we can reveal what comes next… we promise we’ll share more on that when we can.Baldur’s Gate 3 ModdingBaldur’s Gate 3 ToolkitAs well as Patch 8, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Modding Toolkit is receiving an update, which means mod authors will now be able to explore partial level editing! Whether you fancy creating your own NPC, dropping a metric ton of carrots across every existing level just for the sake of it, pledging your undying love to Shadowheart by turning all wolves into bunny rabbits or by moving them to the House of Hope, you’ll now be able to use the Toolkit to add or override certain template types in existing levels.Partial level editing means that what you won’t be able to do with the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit is add dialogues or change the static parts of the world like buildings, scenery or terrain. You can, however, create your own interactive objects like a chest that teleports away every time you get close to it - no one will touch your belongings ever again! Including you. Or you could make a salami statue that you can put in your pocket. The world truly is yours.Modding Guidelines UpdateTo support the new realm of possibilities with the latest Toolkit update, we have now updated the modding guidelines with new information, and will continue curating mods for console. As part of this update, we have reviewed technical requirements, and unfortunately, mods that introduce new playable races are unable to be curated for console. If you’re a mod author, we suggest giving the guidelines a read by clicking here.UI Functionality ImprovementsWe have been continuing to work closely with mod authors to ensure there are fewer conflicts between game mods and new patches, particularly for those that have ImpUI as a dependency. While the ImpUI mod isn’t currently being maintained, to help keep things running smoothly and to support the creative passion of those in the modding community, we’ve introduced minor changes to how some functionalities are handled in the Toolkit. Now, mod authors will be able to make changes directly for mods that rely on UI tweaks during Character Creation. The changes now supported natively in the Toolkit include: Action Resources Racial spells at LevelUp Race passives UI scrolling for Heads, Passives, Equipment, Class, Subclass, and Origin selection Feat passives Radial customisation and descriptionsThank you to Djmr for their incredible work on this mod and for keeping in contact with us while we resolved the conflicts and introduced this functionality, as well as Caites, both who have been particularly helpful, and whose names now lie firmly in the Baldur’s Gate 3 game credits, along with the mod authors who have been helping us test Toolkit functionality!Mods In Patch 8As Patch 8 begins to roll out, please remain patient and respectful of those in the community who put work into creating their mods. Some things might not work immediately after a new update and it might take a little while before a mod can be updated. If you can’t wait to dive in but are worried about your mod list, we recommend starting a new playthrough to enjoy the new subclasses and to try out photo mode.Patch NotesAlong with the new additions, Patch 8 also tackles a range of bugs, like fixing Shadowheart’s penchant for hair dye while skinny dipping, Cerys will stop getting involved in combats with Minthara from across the region, and we’ve resolved an issue with the moving platform in the Gauntlet of Shar that has accidentally proven harder to survive than, well, the actual Gauntlet of Shar.HIGHLIGHTS Photo Mode 12 brand new subclasses – one for each class, including: Path of the Giant Barbarian, College of Glamour Bard, Death Domain Cleric, Circle of Stars Druid, Arcane Archer Fighter, Way of the Drunken Master Monk, Oath of the Crown Paladin, Swarmkeeper Ranger, Swashbuckler Rogue, Shadow Magic Sorcerer, Hexblade Warlock, and Bladesinging Wizard Cross-play Xbox Series S split screenGameplay Fixed containers inside inventories not scattering their contents when they get destroyed, which could potentially lead to key quest items getting lost for good. Fixed an issue where picking up items from the ground in multiplayer could then block movement via the controller stick. When you succeed a Perception check, the spotted item will now ping on the minimap and be listed in the combat log. Take it easy, lads. Fixed Freecast being reset when any condition is applied. Fixed characters getting stuck when pathfinding via a ladder that's already in use by another companion. Fixed War Magic being active before Extra Attack, forcing the player to use a bonus action before getting access to other Extra Attacks. Eldritch Knights now properly use free Extra Attacks before their War Magic attack. Fixed Valiant Damage not triggering properly. Fixed an issue with Shadow Blade spells and the Knife of the Undermountain King dagger not granting Advantage against an obscured target. Updated Elemental Weapon to allow all damage types at all spell levels and include upcast benefits at Levels 5 and 6. Fixed the skiff at the Morphic Pool sometimes appearing in the wrong spot or floating in the air. Fixed body type 1 duergar incorrectly receiving halfling stats instead of dwarf stats. Fixed Gimblebock getting stuck if his attack triggered a Reaction. Fixed characters not being able to pick up any items if an invalid pickup request was, somehow, stored in the savegame. You can no longer teleport out of Moonrise while controlling Minthara unless you tell her to stay put. Minthara is now willing to talk to you after you tell her to wait in the torture chamber. Minthara no longer gets stuck babysitting Thaniel in Act II. Fixed an issue where you could talk about Art Cullagh as though he's alive even if he isn't.
